Eye Defects Cartoon

Cartoon by Pamela Sutter, from her upcoming e-book (March 2015), May the Farce be with You.

She could have added that the optic nerve runs through the retina and attaches to its front, thus creating a blind spot and reducing the amount of light collected by the retina. In contrast, cephalopod (squid, octopus, cuttlefish) optic nerves connect to the back to the back of the retina–thus no blind spot and no reduction in the amount of light collected. It seems that, as regards the eye, the Intelligent Designer favored squids over humans.
